| | The Legend of Stawberry
During my high school days, my brothers and I rarely went out to eat. In fact, when Steve and I went to visit our Aunt in California, she told us that we can eat anywhere. We both looked at eachother and exclaimed, "Arby's!" with a smile. My aunt said, "Arby's?! Don't you want to go to a nice place?" Looking perplexed, I said, "You mean like BOB EVAN'S? I think that she found that response even more hilarious. Needless to say, going out to eat at all was a big deal to us kids.
Steve's middle school was having a pajama day during spirit week at school, and whoever had the best pajamas would be awarded the grand prize--a free sub, bag of chips, and beverage at Subway. I caught Steve in my closet later that day. I wasn't sure what he was up to, but the next morning he had this look on his face like he was up to something.
That day at lunch, my high school friends were talking about a kid in middle school that was being called "strawberry."
"There is this kid that is wearing a pink pajama sleeper, the kind with the feet attached! He's prancing around in it with a green cape like he is some kind of super hero. People are laughing so hard that they are crying, " said Tara.
"That's got to be my brother and my pajamas!" I exclaimed. Sure enough, it was true. That evening Steve told everyone about his adventures as "strawberry." He celebrated his victory as he ate his free meal from Subway.
